CHARMS

CAN A CHARM REALLY WORK?
This must be one of the most contentious questions ever asked. What may be logical to one person can be illogical to another. At TUMBLING WOODS we do not dismiss the beliefs of others. We are all individuals to be respected as such. It is not uncommon to find claims of life forces and energies. What is important is to decide the validity of these claims for ourselves and not be coerced by others’ persuasions.

British scientific tests have proved that people who carry a charm or talisman create a more confident, positive and optimistic attitude to life. However it is probably also true that charms and talismans may have no impact whatsoever on the people or the events that surround their lives.

Of one thing we can be sure, by a simple change of attitude people can have more control over adverse events or as some call them ‘fates’ in life. This gives us a degree of control over the random events that always occur in our life.

Being aware of our personal environment enables us to foresee potential problems that may change our life. This is not foresight it is simply awareness. Good fortune or miss fortune is not always a matter of being ‘in the right place at the right time’ or ‘the wrong place at the wrong time’. Often it is our own thoughts, behaviors or those we associate with that cause these situations. We should also be aware that occasionally some life situations are far beyond our own control.

Many things have an effect upon our lives. Usually they have a personal yet unexplainable meaning to us depending upon which culture or civilization we are from. These are deeply ingrained into our everyday lives. Articles and symbols are instilled within our subconscious mind. If they have a big enough influence they will stimulate every life aspect encouraging self–assurance and promoting positive outcomes.

It is these cultural articles and symbols when used as a charm or talisman that have the largest impact on our life

Why should I carry a charm?
Research has proved that carrying a charm can promote positive thoughts.

Focusing your mind lies primarily in identifying the part of YOUR life YOU wish to change. Don’t allow anything or anyone to change or own YOUR free-will. The charm you choose to carry or wear has to be relevant to the positive change or direction you want your life to take. Once again belief is about personal choice but beware! Self-deceit is negative. By being realistic and positive you will become far less self-destructive, more self-aware, and more self-assertive.

Charms can be worn as decoration but to the wearer it is a personal, and a constant reminder of their aspirations and intentions. When a charm or talisman is worn it is continually in touch with our inner thoughts. As such the power of a charm should never be under estimated. A charm’s presence can focus our mind by continually targeting our own self-destructive preconceptions whilst reminding us of our self-aspirations

What about a lucky coin?
A one pound coin used to purchase one lottery ticket increases your chance of winning from 0 to 14 million to one. Coins are made for purpose, to be spent or collected.
Charms are most effective when they are specifically hand made then they become personalized to the wearer. The thought that your charm is not a mass produced, stamped out by the million, manufactured item is vitally important. YOU are important, YOUR aims and aspirations are important. For some unexplained reason natural objects have a more profoundly tactile and comforting effect than synthetic objects. This is probably because we trust our instincts that natural simple looking objects are not designed to look attractive in order to deceive us into buying and believing in them. Experience tells us ‘all that glitters is not gold.’

Our own cultural charms are very important. They were designed for a purpose by our own ancestors and our ancestry is permanent. Our ancestors’ intuitive ancient knowledge was based on the natural environment that affected their lives. Whilst our immediate environment has altered; our natural spiritual environment remains the same. They knew their world, they learnt from it, they worked with it and based their wisdom upon it. For British people the humble tree is close to our hearts. Our ancestors viewed the tree as a bridge between the earth and sky. They placed their faith and trust it.

Other ancient world civilizations had of their own environments. That is why charms vary from civilization to civilization, each one working by its inherited and handed down knowledge from ancestor to descendant.
